Diagrams & Practice for the test : Simple Past and Past Continous

 SIMPLE PAST - DIAGRAMS

We use the Simple Past when we talk about something which started and finished in the past.

Se usa para expresar que algo comenzó en el pasado y ya finalizó.

Simple Past

We use the Simple Past to describe a series of actions in the past.

Simple Past

Simple Past - Signal words (palabras que indican pasado)

These words tell you what tense you have to use. For the Simple Past these are expressions of time in the past.

          yesterday                last week
   a month ago                              in 2002

 PAST CONTINUOUS - DIAGRAMS

We use the Past Continuous when we talk about something which was happening around a period of time in the past.

Past Progressive

We use the Past Continuous (blue) together with the Simple Past (pink). The Past Continuous is used for the action in the past which was in progress when a new action (Simple Past) happened.

Past Progressive

Two actions which were in progress in the past do not influence each other.

Past Progressive

Past Continuous - Signal words

Signal words tell you what tense you have to use. In the Past Progressive we often use a period of time. A typical signal word is while. The Past Progressive is frequently used in sentences together with the Simple Past.

While (In this part of the sentence we usually use Past Progressive.)

Describing Cities - C& S Adjectives

Here we are ... not "we", but "they" are, my students, showing again theirs skills learning about english and technology.
I want to share some of their works in this BLOG. They had to describe a city and then compare it to any other using Comparative and Superlative Adjectives.

Aquí estamos nuevamente, más bien "ellos" están aquí mostrando sus avances en inglés y en tecnología.

Quiero compartir algunas trabajos prácticos en los que se debía describir una ciudad y luego compararla con otra utilizando Comparative and Superlative Adjectives.

Incy Wincy Spider & neuroscience exercises

Exercises to train our brain

Place facing fingertips right thumb with the left index finger, with an upward motion right index faced with the left thumb, following the upward movement faced with right thumb left index and so on (as the classic the spider nursery rhyme ) .
Same as previous exercise movement, but downward.

Variation:  facing right thumb with the tip of the left little finger with your left thumb facing upward motion with his right pinkie and so on.
Then do it in descending order.

Incy Wincy Spider (lyrics)

Incy Wincy Spider
went up the waterspout
Down came the rain
And washed the spider out
Out came the sun
And dried up all the rain
And the itsy bitsy spider
went up the spout again
